Tech Mahindra and Mastercard Join Hands to Modernise B2B Payments

Tech Mahindra has partnered with Mastercard to help global enterprises modernise business-to-business (B2B) payments by integrating secure virtual card and payment capabilities directly into enterprise resource planning (ERP) and procurement platforms.

The partnership combines Tech Mahindra’s enterprise transformation expertise with Mastercard’s embedded payment capabilities and global virtual card ecosystem.

Payments Integrated Into Existing Business Workflows

Under the partnership, Mastercard’s payment capabilities will be integrated into leading ERP systems and procure-to-pay and source-to-pay platforms. This will allow enterprises to manage payment activities within their existing procurement and financial workflows.

The planned integration will use application programming interfaces (APIs), payment automation, real-time reconciliation tools, fraud management and enhanced payment controls.

These capabilities are intended to improve processes across accounts payable, treasury, procurement, finance and supplier management. By connecting payments with existing business software, companies can gain greater visibility into transactions and reduce operational friction.

The collaboration also aims to simplify supplier onboarding and strengthen supplier relationships by making payment processes more efficient.

Agentic AI to Support Financial Operations

The partnership will also enable enterprises to leverage agentic AI workflows as they modernise procurement and finance operations.

According to Tech Mahindra, these workflows are intended to help organisations optimise business processes and modernise at their own pace. However, the companies have not disclosed specific AI use cases or confirmed which tasks will be automated.

The broader objective is to move businesses away from fragmented payment processes towards a more connected model of embedded finance, where payment capabilities become part of the software employees already use.

Improving Working Capital and Financial Control

Businesses often manage complex supplier networks, payment approvals and reconciliation processes across multiple systems. These fragmented workflows can make it difficult to maintain financial visibility, control spending and manage working capital efficiently.

By embedding payment capabilities directly into ERP and procurement platforms, Tech Mahindra and Mastercard aim to address these challenges while improving security, fraud prevention and compliance.

The approach could help enterprises connect procurement modernisation with their wider digital transformation strategies without disrupting existing technology investments.

A Step Towards Embedded Finance for Enterprises

The partnership reflects the growing role of embedded finance in enterprise technology. Rather than relying exclusively on separate payment portals, businesses can increasingly access financial capabilities through the platforms used to manage purchasing, suppliers and accounting.

For Tech Mahindra, the collaboration strengthens its enterprise transformation and financial technology offerings. For Mastercard, it expands the integration of commercial payment capabilities into corporate software environments.

Financial terms, specific customer deployments and an implementation timeline were not disclosed in the announcement. The impact of the partnership will depend on enterprise adoption and how effectively the integrated capabilities improve payment efficiency and financial management.

As businesses continue to digitise their operations, integrating payments into ERP and procurement systems could become an important step towards more automated and connected B2B financial workflows.
